mercury’s process is shaped by contradiction. early in their career they lived a double-life. during the day mercury worked as a personal assistant to prominent artists & art institutions, but at night they created illicit art under multiple pseudonyms. this juxtaposition of realities sparked their interest in the concepts of ownership and authorship. to mercury the art scene was about access; you either payed for entry or you created your own door.

mercury’s approach to art making has since shifted from reactionary to futurist. now offering alternative narratives to the ones typically provided for queer caribbean people. their current practice uses performance & installation to explore these narratives. treating each piece as a situation; unique in approach and execution.
